Do you still get cosmos with the latest basic (Standard) version of SW?

Cosmos/M is not Simulation Express by any stretch. Eltron is thinking of Cosmos/Works, a different animal.

I believe it still comes with the higher end packaging of Simulation. You would be better served to ask this question on the SolidWorks:Simulation/FEA (COSMOS) forum.

You can do useful work with Simulation Express, but you have to stand on your head to do so.

E.g., you can do a linear FE analysis on something like a skid built from structural sections, but you have to make the model in one piece, e.g. by subtracting the internal cavities from the enclosing volume.

You can induce SE to produce a nice colored report to show your boss, but if there's no budget for more software, you probably won't keep doing it.
