yes, it is very slowly in this case!
but try this:
Create -> Datum - Curve - Sketch or projected
... then make a Note (you have text in sketch).
If you want to engrave/mill that note ... in NC choose trajectory. For selection will be some more work but will be faster any kind of regeneration. Another thing, you will don't have problems when you want to change the font type like with engraving.
