Hello

I am looking for information regarding the uses of corrugations in thermoforming (primarily with polypro )My field has me designing and fabricating orthopaedic appliances for the disabled. I am looking for particulars on size and shape of the corrugation and there effects on rigidity. I welcome any information.

Thanks in Advance

goose212,

I recomend that you use some modeling software that will allow you to model the full formed 3d shape of the orthopaedic device. Then design a load set that best approximates the ISO loads or what might be real life. Use these loads to simply look at the relative stiffness and strength of different size corrugations placed in slightly different locations.

What are you thermo forming? Body braces? AFO's? corrugations can be induced or acutally molded in. By induced I mean the shape of the part compared to the shape of the material befor forming must generate corrugations when thermo formed, and by molded in the mandrel would include shapes to generate corrugations. Are you using preforms, or flat stock?
