Corrosion on small engines

Is there a silver bullet or special, environmentally friendly, potion to deal with salt water environment's affects on small, air-cooled, engines? Or, are there small, air-cooled, engines designed specifically for marine environments? My concern is that there will be extended periods when freshwater "showers" for equipment like portable generators, compressors, etc. won't be available.
