I need to copy one assembly file, all it's part files, and all the associated drawing files from one folder to another folder. SWExplorer does a fine job capturing the assembly file and all the associated part files but I don't see a way to grab all the drawing files as well. Can this be done?

Oh sorry, I should have said I have SW2006.

You can use SW Explorer 2007 on your 2006 files. I have only SW 2006 installed on my computer, but I have also installed SW Explorer 2007 so I can take advantage of Pack & Go.

Now the caveat here is if you have both 2007 and 2006 SolidWorks on your computer. If you launch SW Explorer 2007 from within SW2007 and touch a 2006 file it will be converted. If you launch Explorer as a stand alone without SW running it will not convert the files. Best to do testing on dummy data to see cause and affect.

This is not an issue for me since I do not have SW 2007 installed on my computer yet.

If you are on maintanance you could go and get the SW Explorer 2007 package and install on your machine.

If you have PDMWorks, it can be done from there also.

Thank you all for replying, but it seems that the answer to my original question is ... no.

SMCADMAN, the steps you describe only work for the assembly drawing, they don't capture the drawing files associated with the parts that make up the assembly (unless I'm missing something).

I may take a look at installing SWExplorer 2007.

alolesen, yeah you're apparently doing something wrong because if you follow my 2nd post, you shouldn't have any problems.

Do you have 1 drawing per model or does 1 drawing has all of the models for a project? Are your models in different folders than the drawing? It shouldn't make a difference, but knowing this may lead someone else to help you.

This is a good case of moving to something like PDMWorks 07. It will manage your files how you like without the headache.
It will take the drawings associated with each model.

SMCADMAN:

I have a very straight forward assembly. It is made up of 4 parts. Each part has it's own associated drawing file. The assembly file also has an associated drawing file. all these files are in the same folder. If I follow your example then only the drawing file associated with the assembly is found and copied. None of the part drawing files are captured.

If I'm not mistaken, this is what the picture included with your example shows as well.

Just use Windows Explorer to copy all the files to a new directory. Then use SolidWorks Explorer to rename the files.

If you need everything in the folder, then as Shaggy posted, simply use Windows Explorer. The screenshot above is only 1 sub-assembly out of 4 unique sub-assemblies that are used in the top-level assembly.
