Convert Sliding to journal bearing

I want insight into whether it is possible to somehow convert a plain reciprocating bearing in a Scotch Yoke mechanism to one in which the orthogonal slider and yoke elements are kept apart by a journal-type bearing. This high speed mechanism ( 1000 Hz ) is prone to lubrication failure and wear in its current form.
