What is the applicable code to support a pressure test after welding repair in a control valve body. We review ASME B16.34a but this code refers to New valves, Can we use this procedure? Do you know another code or practice more specific? I think that is not convenience use it (B16.34b) because the body has less thickness due the use.

Thanks in advance

We use API-598 for testing of all our valves. API-598 addresses hydrostatic tests of the shell (i.e. valve body)as well as testing of the valve in the closed position for leakage.

What about ASME Section XI? Doesn't that apply to repair of valves? Or does it depend on the application. Patricia Lougheed
