Hi we use contig piles walls for basements a lot, we usually face with a waterproof concrete liner.
I now have a situation where it’s just going to be a retaining wall so I don’t need to waterproof. I haven’t done this before but I was going to face the piles with a drained cavity sheet then put a RC face across the front (dowled back to the piles to retain soil in the gaps between the piles) and provide weep holes along the bottom to prevent water pressure build up. This way I don’t need to design piles for water pressure loads.
Has anyone gone down this path before and are there any unusual issues I won’t have considered in comparison to having a fully waterproof concrete liner wall?
