Hi,

I am modeling an I-plate girder and I have a mesh refinement on the middle of the span, the transition of the mesh is made simply dividing the square elements by two, therefore there are some middle nodes that are not connected to the coarse mesh. Someone can tell me how to give continuity to this mesh, a kind of interpolation constraint or something like that. Thank u!!

The mesh should be continuous in a single part unless Abaqus has had to use different meshing techniques, or you've speficied different elements. In either case the surfaces will be tied together. That should be avoided as the results will show a discontinuity. Just try seeding the lines in a ratio up to the point where you want the mesh refined. This will give a continuously refined mesh, providing you don't use tetrahedral elements.

Thanks for your information, I will do it.
