I'm trying to use an edge of a model to create another sketch which will then become an extended cylinder of the model. It's a simple circle but I can't get it to constrain cylindrically (or any other constraint) to the edge I want (like in Catia). I've tried Insert-Curve from Body-Intersect but it won't grab the intersect when trying to constrain my circle. This is NX 8.5. I used to do this all the time in NX 7. What happened? Can I still do this?

While in the sketch, check your selection scope filter. In NX 8.5 it defaults to "within sketch only" which is not what you want in your case.

I've tried all of the different selections within that dropdown menu and I have had no luck.

Try using the intersection point under your sketch tools. Then constrain to the point.

If the circle is NOT in the same plane as your sketch, I doubt you'll be able to use the edge as a constraint.

If the edge that you want to dimension to is viewed as a point from the sketch plane then you need to use a different edge.
