Is there a code or manual that restricts the use of concrete screws (tapcons) to attach a standard cold-formed roof deck to concrete? I know that SDI states "Mechanical fasteners (powder-actuated, screws, pneumatically driven fasteners, etc.) are recognized as viable anchoring methods, provided the type and spacing of the fasteners satisfy the design criteria." I assume when they mention "screws", the intent is self-tapping screws for metal-to-metal connections, based on the context of the commentary, but nothing seems to explicity state tapcons cannot be used. The roof deck is for a large rotunda that is braced with connections to the concrete deck/curb and does not depend on the steel deck to act as a diaphragm. Thanks in advance.
