MS Excel is limited to 3 or 4 conditions for it's conditional format function. I have tried a free down load add on which is supposed to extend the number of possible conditions but it failed to work correctly. Does any one know of a download that works or a simple way of increasing the number of conditions up to 8-10. I want to change the shading of cells dependent upon the value in that cell.

The simplest way is to upgrade to Excel 2008. Of course, that opens up an entirely different can o' worms.

You can either use VBA, or use a helper cell and base conditional formatting on the value in the helper.
