Hi,
Do I need to provide cover to the bottom of a rebate, or can I assume that grout will provide that cover?
I attached a sketch which might help understand the question. A little context, in case you're wondering; Essentially I have a prefab steel cage for a concrete pad which will sit beneath a column, for which the client wants to hide the connection via a rebate. We intend on lowering the reinforcement beneath the rebate (as opposed to bending the bars). I would like the reinforcement to sit as high as possible, but not sure if there's anything I need to be worried about if I take that grout to be providing cover.
Cheers,
Kauri
