Computer Desktop having problems showing taskbar and other icons. 1

My family and I just recently downloaded Windows 2000. Ever since then, we have been having problems with certain programs and other things. My question has to do with our desktop. We have a program called Webshots (Webshots is where you can find cute and funny pictures of every day things and download them onto your Photo Manager and either run them as your background of your desktop or run them as a screen saver). For some reason, when we start up the computer and proceed to the desktop screen, the task bar and oter icons seem to be missing. The only way to run programs such as the internet and Microsoft Word is to run them through the task manager. This has happened twice now and it's getting rather irritating. If there is any body, any body at all who can help me with my problem and maybe find some solution that'll delete this problem from happening in the near future, please respond to this. On the start-up menu checked if you have click or asked for the desktop to be hidden or scan your computer for virus definition.if you still have problem, let me know.
