Hi,
I want to model damping in a dynamic analysis in Abaqus explicit. So I can do it by material damping and Rayleigh damping; however, there is another option as bulk viscosity that default parameters are 0.06 and 1.2 as you can see in the attached figure. They can affect dynamic responses. Do you think I should set them to zero to remove redundant damping in my model? Or it can be used instead of material damping?

Bulk viscosity in Explicit is used to improve the modeling of high-speed dynamic events. Usually, it doesn’t cause any issues but can be changed if there are some spurious effects in the results. In Explicit it’s important to carefully examine all the relevant model energies. They can also show you problems associated with excessive numerical damping.
