Compressor chillers or Absorption chillers 1

I would like to know if 400t absorption chiller is competitive if using 40°C waste water, to chill water at 5°C

I don't thick this 40 deg temperature is enough to run the chiller system!

I think the Yazaki absorption chillers require at least 95C fluid to effectively chill, using lithium bromide, and at that point their COP is only about 1.

To Davefitz: From your knowledge/experience what you have to say about absorption chillers, in particular those lithium bromide requiring hot water at lower temperatures at the level of the generator(of course you have to consider a bigger one, as well the absorsor!) around 70~75 ºC (or 158~167 ºF). The idea is to combine/integrate this system in multi-task/uses solar installations.

I don't think so! We still having a lots of problems to stabilize the cycle with temperatures around 60~70 ºC and COP ~ 0.45 to 0.55 For temperatures around 40 ºC, you can consider it that as a pre-heating step, at the most. But than again, the COP will be lower, in order to reach the required temperatures at the generator.
