Compressive steel 3

i need help determining the area of compressive steel for a T Beam...i have already found the area of tensile steel. I need to check the beam for strength and ductility and require the area of compressive steel but im new to design and cant seem to find anything in the concrete design codes AS3600. any help would be appreciated...

If you have already calculated what tensile steel that you need for strength and the section is ductile (i.e. ku is less than 0.4) than you won't require any compressive steel.

Unless you require some compressive steel for service requirements such as deflections.

Time to open up "concrete Structures" by warner et al and read the section on doubly reinforced beams, this will get your the baics that you can then apply to t-sections.

Clause 8.1.5 and a good textbook as suggested above.

AS3600 will not tell you how to calculate a double reinforced member, that is textbook stuff, not code stuff.
