composite wood and deep impregnated resin

Hi guys,

I would like to make a material wood impregnated with a termoset resin (maybe polyester). But I want to realize a solid surface, so the resin must impregnated all the wood.
My pieces of wood are roughly 40x20x1 in, do you know if exist a technique and how does it work?

Most stabilized woods use Acrylic or Polyester Resin for impregnating the material. This process is generally done in an autoclave, to provide heat and pressure. The process is simple tough somewhat difficult to carry out. Check the Iron Wood knives link.
I do not recommend the do it yourself approach without the proper equipment. The first link is to one process to stabilize wood.
On some very porous wood like Fir I have used cut catalyzed Polyester resin the wood using a vacuum bag. Now I look back on this process I get a little queasy as I used Acetone to cut the resin.

You OP states that you want a resin impregnated composite board. the most common of these are the HDF and MDF boards like the ones from Clarion. There are also boards impregnated with Melamine and Epoxy resin. If you are not locked in on a wood base you could also look at the various forms of Micarta.
