sorry for the silly question, but i was wondering if there was a standard way to designate composite steel beams with multiple rows of shear studs. right now i have something like: W18x40 (2@15) [c=1"]. it's the "2@15" that i'm wondering about. i don't assume it's a huge deal, but if there was a standard way of designating that, i'd like to put it on the drawings correctly. thanks for any help!

I've usually just seen the number called out on the drawing. Then some structural notes which designate when to use multiple rows of studs.... though I haven't been the EOR on any of these types of jobs.

My way of doing is to provide a beam schedule. The only thing that appears on plan is B1, B2, etc.

So then Hokie, do you tend to B1 to B2 critical of the contractor, B8ting them B4 a full knowledge of the problems, or do you tend to B9 on the issue?

At the moment, I tend more to BS.

Boy...., that’s beeeeeautiful, Mike and Hokie.

Do I detect a note of immaturity here?
