We are doing Sales Gas project, as per our project requirement we have to purchase X60 API 5L 46th Edition pipe but we have stock API 5L 43rd Edition with same specification. Is it technically advisable to us 43rd Edition instead of 46th edition.

Regards,
Surezhg - Project Engineer

No.

There was a massive change between 43rd and 44th edition which has been only now slightly modified with the 45th and 46th edition.

It is though poor practice to use a specification you know is out of date.

You need to buy the new standard.

Or do you mean you have pipe made to API 5L 43rd edition ( i.e. about 20 years old). Your post isn't very clear.

I can't see how you would be able to sell pipe made to 43rd edition as 46th edition pipe without quite bit more testing.

But that might be possible. You need a good materials engineer to tell you if that can be done.
