Dear Expert

We have one DC motor witch´s commutator has been reground many times and now it is too thin (picture attached)

What is the usual way of repairing this?

Can we buy a new commutator and replace the damage one?

Any help will be appreciate

Lukin, you're right .
the only way is buying and installation of a new commutator . Good workshop should be to do it but there is a risk that must be rewound rotor winding .
Good luck

Thanks panter

I asked the motor´s manufacturer to send a quotation for a new commutator and I found a local workshop that can do the installation

They wont sell the commutator alone. So I will buy a new armature rotor but I still want to repair the one that´s damage to keep it as a spare

Does anyone know a company that can provide me a commutator?

Did you ask if they will 're-manufacture' your armature. If not, there probably is not much, if any, cost savings over a new one.

The manufacturer is in Italy
We are in Paraguay

I have got a quote from a Argentinian commutator supplier, and yes. The commutator alone costs more than a new armature
