Does anybody know the definition of "COMMERCIAL GRADE CASTINGS" ?

Are there different grades of "Commercial Grade" castings ? If "YES" , would you please give me a brief explanation on that ?

Thank you.

Steel castings. Some are ASTM A 27 , and others are ASTM A 148.

In most Codes and Standards, non-pressure containing applications.

Commercial grade castings are normally used for general engineering purposes in construction and mining industries. They normally qualify ASTM A27,very rarely I have come across ASTM A148.

These will be supplied without any test certificates, probably do not get machined or have limited machining(drilled holes) are not used under low or high temperature environment. No NDT is specified, bulk of the steel castings I produce fall into this category. We earn better margins in these rather than in WCB grades where testing and documentation takes the steam out .

Usualy this are common grades(low alloyed) that have no mjoar problems when are casted and have a standard medium price.
