Everything I have read says a cold calling makes you look desperate and thats not a good thing. So I come from a manufacturing back ground and I see many many projects come through. Now as a manufacturer I know how to go after the project when I am bidding per the entire scope. However when you’re the engineer and someone else is building what you design, simply reaching out to the contractor or the Architect falls back to cold calling. So to my question.
I find a project that may have some engineering needs. ( I pulled the project from read or ISQFT). At this point everything is out for bid…
What should my plan of attack be?
1) Wait until everything bids, get in touch with the architect find out who the winning contractor is and then Cold Call the contractor?
2) Get a list of contractors that are bidding and again cold call.
3) How do I avoid cold calling?
