Hi Guys,

Im wondering if anyone familiar with the use of Japan Road Association - Specification for Highway Bridges Part IV (Substructures) could shed light to my quest. I'm trying to evaluate the Axial Spring Constants of Piles (Section 12.6.1) but one of the variables required is defined as the "Cs - coefficient of sliding between pile shaft and surrounding soil (kN / cu. meter)". Does anyone know how to obtain it? Thanks.

That's a common number used for determining support capability of friction piles. Many references have tables, generally related to density of the material. Almost any geotech textbook will have tables with this info. Do a search for "Pile side friction table".
