Codes for atmospheric vessel

I need to design a relatively small atmospheric vessel (diameter = 2.500 mm)with torispherical heads, supported by legs attached in shell (in inferior tangent line).
Do Have a code applicable for this vessel type?
If not, What codes may I use ?

In chemical plant applications of such vessels, they are commonly designed to ASME Sec VIII, Div. 1, but not required to have code stamp. It varies state to state what the requirements are, but usually below 15 ft^3 volume and 15 psig design pressure, a code stamp is not required.

As API650 treats flat bottomed tanks, the only possible reference that I know of is ASME VIII Div.1, used, of course, only as a basis for design calculations.
However note that you are likely to be in the minimum wall thickness zone of the standard (so that design formulae won't be of much usefulness), and that in your conditions the limiting stress is in the support attachments, where ASME VIII has no useful design formulae.

Hello,

If the tank is truly "atmospheric pressure" above static head of contained liquid you might look at the requirements of the Underwriters Laboratory Standard UL-142. Just don't ask for a technical rationale for the Standard. Also, use the NDE requirements of ASME Section VIII, Division 1. If you have a flammable product make sure that you have the right emergency and conservation venting (See Varec and Protectoseal web sites).

All good information and suggestions noted above...

I would like to add the fire protection considerations.

In the USA, we use the NFPA-30 code for installations where flamable liquid is stored. NFPA-30 only allowas certain design code. (namely API-650,620, ASME-VIII and others....)

If your stored liquid is flammable, the fire protectiuon code governing the installation location may govern the design.

Just a thought.....
