Hi all

We have a possible project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The first concern is the code. I have been told that UBC applies but as far as I can see the latest is UBC 97, after that it's IBC. Does anybody know if UBC97 applies in Saudi today?

Also, in UBC there is seismic zone 0 for Riyadh. That would mean, if I'm not misinformed, that there are no seismic provisions for Riyadh. Does anybody know if there are any local provisions beside the UBC?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there
i know that saudies have their own building code (SBC 2007) and their Eq design provision is similar to that of the ASCE7.
Riyadh is locate in region 4 as clasified by the SBC.
any way most of the gulf state uses the british code for design.
