Are control joint spacing requirements the same for interior walls as for exterior walls?

According to some NCMA guidelines I've seen in the past, the interior wall joint spacing can be somewhat larger due to a smaller variation in thermal temperatures and also humidity changes.

In my area, we typically see 24 ft. exterior spacing and 32 ft to 36 ft interior.
