Well, the time has come to be seriously thinking about the steps necessary in shutting down our generation plant.

I would like to get any insight you may have had when you participated in a shutdown like this.

We have 9 diesel/nat. gas generation units, with the oldest unit a 1939 Fairbanks Morse unit, and the newest a 1971 Enterprise unit. All have jacket water cooling, air start, and lube oil filters/heaters. They are not RICE/NESHAP compliant.

If anyone has had experience in a shutdown of a plant such as ours, please contact me here, or send me your email and I will reply back.

We are looking at a 3 year project to close down the generation portion of the plant.

Since our operators are also dispatchers for our line crew, as well as operators for our SCADA system with controls from 3 outlying substations, the personnel will need to stay in place. It is just the generation portion of the plant that will be affected.

Thank you in advance.
