I want to close a lofted shell in SOlidworks 2001... sorta like a dome, but I want much more control over the surface and the tangency to the rest of the part than 'dome' provides.

What is the best way to do this?

Thanks!
david

How about this?
- create an axis that will be the revolution axis of your shell
- create as many planes you need, trough this axis, equaly spaced in a total of 180º
- in each plane create the desired profile
- create another plane perpendicular those previously created planes, that will be the shell's bottom (it must be coincident with the profileslast point)
- in this plane create a desired control curve
- pierce the control curve and profiles
- create the loft with adequate tangency conditions
- mirror de loft to have a closed shell

Regards

If its elliptical I used 4 sections at each quadrant 0, 90, 180, 270 and the edge for my path to control my cut loft / dome.
