Hi - I'm trying to figure out which material I should use to make a transparent plastic drum that will hold ~ 100L of water. It needs to also withstand 50% phosphoric acid and 85% NaOH at high temperatures (~85 C) so it doesn't fall apart in our dishwasher cycle and be IPA (70%) and ethanol (~50%) resistant. I've looked at PETG and polycarbonate, and they seem to be ethanol/IPA resistant but not NaOH resistant. Acrylic materials that I've seen can't handle alcohol exposure. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

TPX if you can get it.

Maybe one of the newer PP co-polymers.

I am presuming the alcohol exposure is at room temperature.

Harry

I jut presumed blow moulding, but it would be a very expensive mould if he does not have access to an existing one.

PP with a clarifying agent will be by far the cheapest option but it won't be totally transparent.

Maybe rotomolding would be a good option for making the part (Harry, Pat?)

I keep forgetting about roto-moulding.

It loses a lot in strength and in clarity due to wavy surface finish, but saves a truckload on tooling.
