Hi,

I am having trouble changing the local coordinates for my solid elements. I am using a 3D Orthotropic material, and I need to have the material properties aligned in a required direction. The problem I am having is that for some strange reason some of the solid elements have different local coordinates. See picture in link
As you can see, my X and Y-axis have changed. This has happened at several places. Any help regarding this problem is appreciated.

isn't that due to element numbering, sequence of nodes ?

can't correct with modify/update element ... maybe "align elements"

For solid elements, set the material direction on the property entry using a coordinate system. That way, you do not have to depend on the element system which is a function of node connectivity. Also make sure you look at results in the material system.
I'm assuming the picture you posted is of the element cord system and dependent on the node ordering.
