I have several sub assemblies that have been designed and developed each with saved configurations to control various tool positions. Is it possible to activate a configuration of a subassembly from the outer main assembly after as the project all comes together?
Also, I have a few nested sub assemblies three deep, Is it possible to control their configurations from the outer main assembly? I'm just trying to prevent having to drill down in the feature manager tree in order to change configurations of a sub assy. All of my sub assy's have been inserted as flexible.

Or should all of my configurations be only at the outer main assembly?
Thanks, Tom..

First point, the "outer main" assy is usually referred to as the Top Level or TL assy.

Each level of assy should control its next-lower level of components.

A
|
B-------C
|
D---E

So A controls B & C, B controls D & E, etc.

B should be pre-configured so that when A calls for a particular config of B, all of B's components are shown in their required config.

I understand your example, but I am having problems making it work. I am not using a design table. To keep it simple, I have two configurations saved at the top level, (there are no components in this level only several SA's). I want configuration A of my top level to call configuration C from a SA1 and Config B to call Config D from SA1. How do I do this?
I'm sure this is just my lack of experience using configurations this way.

Sorry, I misspoke in my last thread.
This is my structure
TL (configuration A&B here)
SA1 (Config B&C here)
SA1a SA1b

if I open SA1 Config B&C work to change the display of SA1, but when I open TL I can't figure out how to make A activate B or C. This is probably just my lack of understanding with basic configuration setup

OK now I feel like a real idiot. I figured it out. Sorry for wasting your time. this works just as you said it should. I simply forgot to go to component properties of the SA and select the configuration I wanted.

Thanks Tom...
