I have a small W6 beam picking up some 12" CFS Joists and am thinking of using a bent plate welded to the top flange (at the edges) and screwing the joists to this and putting a bent plate on the top. I'll have a couple of spaces between the joists with blocking to keep the assembly from tipping over.

Any improvements?

I have done similar but with the stud vertical. That allows you to weld the web of the stud and the flanges down instead of just the edge of the flange (which can be bendy under uplift).
Helps with overturning as well.
It also allows the easy use of a hold down clip with powder actuated fasteners if desired.

Thanks JAE... I like that a lot better...

The bridging between the purlins gets a little harder with my detail though.

I can use opposite 'straps' at each end. A much better detail.
