I have been bothering my local CGS chapter about this for many years but it has finally arrived the 5th edition. I gave it a quick look over and found that this edition has been significantly reorganized and lengthened. The new chapter on instrumentation seems to be quite lengthy but as with the previous version the writing is very impressive in the conversational style. Has anyone else been able to review the new CFEM and any thoughts on how this compares to the 4rth edition.

GEG, its not a free download eh? I cant seem to find it

Not that I have seen my firm has already purchased its digital rights.

Curious to know if it's any good / worth purchasing. I moved on from CFEM 4th edition to various CIRIA manuals, the ICE Geotechnical Manual, more recent FHWA/USACE/CALTRANS etc manuals, and various 'broad' geotechnical textbooks (like Briaud's book or the Terzaghi / Peck 1996 compendium) although I still find CFEM useful as a starting off point

similar to the previous CFEM the manual provides a good place to start for a wide variety of topics. The references and opinions expressed are also of great value to me, in terms of purchase I would expect most geo firms would just buy the digital copy for the firm.
