Can someone help me with this question: I need technical information on the theory, design and performance of centrifugal superchargers for a study I'm doing. The engine i have in mind is a 1935 vintage 600 HP P&W 1340H radial, but I'll be happy to receive any s.c. info. I am looking at the relationships between mass flow rate, required power, pressure ratio, temperature rise, losses, and RPM.I am coming up with power requirements of less than 20 HP at a mass flow rate of around 1 lb/sec,which seems a bit low..I dont have the gear ratio and am using thermo considerations only.engine speed is 2250 RPM at takeoff,1550-1900 cruise..A good text reference would be welcomed. This P&W Wasp engine is interesting in that the sc unit was primarily designed to distribute fuel efficiently, but I see data indicating a boost of about 6 inches.Im a new guy to the forum and hope I'll be able to find an answer on the engine and fuel engineering forum.thanks for taking the time to read this long message.
