Im doing some research about cathodic protection. Im really new to the subject but ive been in the power distribution field for several years. I curious about the following:
1) in your experience how often does cathodic protection come up in distribution?
2) do you normally see problems with around water wells? How does the problem of coupling present? Corrosion?
3) do you find reducing neutral currents help reduce some of the problem or is it just purely a chemical reaction that is solved by using a sacrificial anode?
4) do transmission steel structures suffer a lot from the lack of cathodic protection?

I appreciate any information you can provide! I realize these questions may sound a little dumb, but there doesnt seem to be a lot of information available that relates practical experience with power delivery systems.

Thanks!!

Adding to the topic above: (Same group: CP)

1) Currently several CP systems use Coke breeze as a back-fill, what are the flaws of this product?
2) Chemical reactions occur usually in the anode bed system that produces gases, (some of them not healthy for the environment), how does this pose a problem for systems still using vent pipes? and how is it solved?
3) Can induction from the electric field generated by the transmission line conductors serve to create a primary source of DC for CP?
4)What is the influence does it have on a cathodic protection system of a pipeline when it's close to AC power transmission lines?

Id appreciate your input

Thanks!
