I have just finished with the regeneration of the 5th cycleof our reforming catalyst. We experienced post combustion in the 3rd and 4th reactor for about 4 days when the oxygen concentration was raised to 2%vol.We contacted the patent holders and they advise us to stay at an inlet temperature of 500°C and oxygen concentration of 2%vol untill combustion was over.
while working on the report, I have seen that, the mass of coke been burnt is almost equal to the mass of coke which was burnt during the last regeneration of the catalyst the difference is that, we used about 106 hours more to complete the combustion process.
Personally I think the catalyst needs sieving, and also it means the purging of the reaction zone before combustion was not efficient.
I would like to know if somebody has experience this phenomenon in another refinery and if it affected the cycle of the catalyst after oiling in.
