Castellated Beams

I have heard that castellated beams are not allowed in Canada. I have done some research and cannot confirm if this is true or not. I am currently working on a project in Canada where an American contractor would like to incorporate some of these in their catwalks for maintenance personnel access and equipment support. I have told them that I heard that castellated beams are outlawed here, but that I would verify.

Can anyone provide some direction on this?
