Cast-in place bolts. need recommendation

I am designing a carport and I need a way to bolt the 10"x10" baseplate to the 18" diameter concrete pier. i thought originally using Hilti expansion bolts, but someone said to use cast-in place so to be easier and stronger. i'm just not sure how to design for these bolts though and where to get them.

I don't like to recommend a particular product so I recommend you web search:

Anchor Bolts
Hook Bolts
90 Degree Bolts
L Bolts

These are commonly used in buildings.

I just web searched it and found them easily.

Use a template of plywood with holes matching those in the baseplate to align the bolts. It can be removed for the pour, but then put back to straighten the bolts in the wet concrete.

If mild steel then the embedment length can be 12 x bolt diameter and use heavy hex headed bolt head. Bolt should be placed greater than 4" from the edge of the concrete and should be encased in reinforcing cage in the pier. Check with your local building inspector...

You might want to go to a 3/4 bolt with a head rather than the anchor bolt. Looks pretty solid for the 3/8 base plate. I'd posted an earlier message about trying to obtain the capacity of 3/4" L bolt... and was unable to come up with any info... other than to avoid using them and am finding some resistance in the office about switching from L bolts to regular headed bolts/threaded rod with nut...
