career options for Geotech + IT 1

Hello folks,

I have 3 years of experience in geotechnical field (non North American) and 3 years of experience in computer programming (North American)
I am practically finished with my graduate level degree - M.A.Sc in CEng (geotech.) and considering possible career options.

I want to persue a career that will utilize both my geotech and programming skills. Based on Internet job postings search the positions that require such combination of skills are very rare.

I would really appreacite some helpful hints on how to approach the job search in this situation.
