Hi All,

We supply Ground Support Equipment to the Aerospace/Defence industries in the UK. One of our suppliers of a bag for cable stowage is no longer operational. Therefore, I wonder if anyone can suggest suppliers of Military style canvas rope bags.

In brief, the bag is made from Olive Green Cotton Canvas, has a 400 mm base, is 600 mm high and with a carrying strap and shoulder strap. The replacement doesn't have to be a direct equivalent, any reasonably similar alternative should suffice.

Thanks in advance!

Hi bf109g,

I have forwarded a drawing to "info" at your company. Many thanks.

BF109,
Can your company put new/replacement webbing on aircraft seat belts and certify the results?
I will contact you off line if you do.

Apologies in advance to those who those who will jump me for hijacking this thread.

You should be seeing a response to your rope bag inquiry soon from our VP of Business Development (I am but a lowly engineer). Ask him the question, but be prepared to provide reference to your certification requirement and your expected annual quantity.

Try Grainger Supply.
I utilize the Bucket Bag, for a similar application.
Avg price about $41.80 US.

Specs:
Bucket Bag, Round, Length 12 In, Width 12 In, Height 15 In, Canvas, White, Rope Handle, Straight Wall Plastic Bottom.

Grainger Item # 5PA56
Brand CUSTOM LEATHERCRAFT
Mfr. Model # 103

Check wwith your local awning/canvas shop and have them custom made like you want.

This is the kind of thing we might have manufactured a small lot of as squadron parachute riggers. Maybe one of the parachute outfits can help. It was in the 70s.

Can't remember the parachute manufacturer I dealt with back in the UK, maybe Irvin or Irvine or something?

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

Many thanks for your input folks, greatly appreciated.

FYI, we managed to get a very well done custom job for good value

Thanks again.
