Hi All
I know after creating a BOM, deleting and re-creating it, the new bill will not be in the appropriate place in the feature tree. A known annoyance for a while now. But why cant I re-link the newly created BOM to a view. I can pick the new BOM but the link defaults back to "none".
Any ideas? Thanks

Which version of SW are you using?

In SW07 you don't link a BOM to a view, you link a view to a BOM. Placing balloons in views will link them to the BOM. If you RMB on a view and select Properties, there is an option to select which BOM to link to & whether to Keep linked to BOM.

Sorry SW2005 sp5.0

Also just noticed, second sheet of drawing has its own BOM with item numbers starting at 20 per my designation. Balloons on the sheet do not correspond with the item numbers. e.g. item 20 balloon shows 1, item 21 shows 2, etc.
The order listing and detail in the BOM are correct, but the balloons start at number 1 not 20 ??
Thanks

Is the view linked to the BOM?

I believe linking views to BOMs was a bit buggy in '05. Specifically, say you had a "Parts Only" type BOM that referenced one configuration of an assembly and a drawing view referencing a different configuration of the same assembly. You could not link the drawing view to the BOM. The PITA workaround was to change the referenced config of the drawing view to be the same as the BOM, close the "View Properties" dialog, and then re-open it. The BOM could then be linked and the drawing referenced view changed at the same time. When the dialog was closed the view would change to the desired configuration but remain linked to the BOM. However, if the dialog was opened again for any reason the link would be broken and could not be restored without repeating that process. Definitely a pain for complex assembly views! Sounds like you may have a similar problem.
