Can you advise me ? Computer halls and car alarms

Want to know if anyone has had experiance of the following concerns. We run a data hall with several servers and associated computer equipment and as such we have a bar on phones and such equipment from being taken into the hall for fear of disruption to equipment. Now I have concerns about car key fobs, the type that you push a button to either unlock the car or else to turn off an alarm, do these generate enough RF to be a problem to such equipment in a data hall ?

Possibly, but the likelihood is significantly reduced:

> The output power is signficantly lower than from cell phones, since they only have about 100ft of range

> They must be physically activated, whereas cell phones will periodically access the network on their own. Of course, if you've got too many keys in a tight pocket, that button gets pushed quite often ;-)

I can see where you are coming from but what Im cautious about is the risk factor and if we should be looking to stop such items being taken into a data hall. Like covering all points and ensuring that risks are reduced as far as possible.
