We just upgraded to Creo Elements Pro 5.0. I am getting the message "Can not fix index for this record. Select record again." So I tried selecting the record again, and again, and again...

I find two mentions of this error here:

In both cases, the issue is 'flexible' components. The parts I am selecting are 'unplaced' items (using the Include option). In the past, we have been able to fix the index on these items. I've UnFixed the entire region and attempted to fix them but still no luck. Anyone know a work around? Is this a new 'Feature'?

other two issues you stated were old posts(before creo).
that means it is not new feature

how u was able to fix index in the past then??

Pre-upgrade there was no problem fixing the index on Unplaced items. The process was the same as any other component. I didn't find anyone else asking about this issue post-CreoElements so I assume it is possible to do. Maybe there's a different process I have to follow.

FYI, from the Help Center on 'About Fixing an Index' it says:
<DIV =" x-p-7-0">You can fix the index or set the start index for records that represent flexible components, Family Table generic components, bulk items, and included items along with the standard components within a repeat region. </DIV>
<DIV =" x-p-7-0"></DIV>
<DIV =" x-p-7-0">They just don't explain why I can't.

</DIV>

Update: Apparently when opening the drawing the Included parts are not pulled into session. And for some reason this prevents you from fixing the index on these items. The work around is to individually open the Included parts into session. Then all is well.

Not sure if previous versions of ProE automatically opened them in session, or if maybe the Fix Index functionality didn't care if they were in session or not. But now it matters...
