When I go to open files, I want it to show the details. Frequently I am wanting to sort the drawings to find which file I want to open, so I always have to click "details", then sort em. Is there a way to set the default open view to Details so I dont have to go through this extra step?

can I change default OPEN dialog box to always view DETAILS?

You can drag&drop from Windows Explorer into SolidWorks.
Just make sure you MINIMIZE any open views & it will open your part instead of inserting it into the assembly you might have open.
