I need some help with some calculations.

In the application I am trying to figure out how much hytrel 5556 is needed to go around a round object. the outer circumference is 68 inches and the area is 259.9. mass is approx. 9lbs.

I need help helping the elongation and the friction forces.

Thanks

The elongation and the friction depend on how big the Hytrel part is before you stretch it around the cylinder. ... which is sort of up to you.

You might begin by studying the Parker O-ring Handbook.

Contact the engineering department of the manufacturer.

Here is a link to detailed information of Hytrel 5556 thermoplastic polyester elastomer from DuPont.

If you want help determining the dimensions of a molded Hytrel part that will install onto your round object without experiencing permanent deformation, you need to provide more information.

Thank you to everyone for your assistance.
