Good day all. I will appreciate it if anyone understand how the average film coefficients for heat exchangers tube side and shell side coefficients are estimated from the local heat transfer coefficients data in aspen EDR. The calculation details in Aspen EDR provides the interval analysis table which contains the local heat fluxes, local film coefficients, void fraction, vapour fraction, bulk temperature, skin temperature, etc. From the aspen edr help files, it is mentioned that the tube side or shell side film coefficient is the average value of the film coefficients. I've tried arithmetic and geometric mean but none seem to give me the value reported in EDR result summary. I have also adapted the method outlined in HTRI to the EDR data and this also did give a good prediction. any helpful tips or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you.
