I found some equations that discuss calculating torsion in sand where most are for clay. Does anyone have a preference on an equation or method to calculate torsion in sand. I have 6 blades (4-foot long) embedded in sand. The blades will be carrying a theme park attraction intended to move the sand in a large sand box. It is similar in shape and concept to the Vane Shear test. The equation for the Vane shear is mainly for clay. I need help finding the right equation to use in calculating the torsion generated, but in sand.
