I'm wondering about the difference in the construction of armoured cable. When it is screened and unscreened.

Am I right in saying that for the same size cable the insulation between the Core and the armour is the same as that found on an unarmoured cable.

But the insulation between the screen and the core is less.

i.e the armour goes around the cable insulatin but the screen is between two layers of insulation?

Commonly there would be a plastic or rubber jacket between the screen and the armor. The insulation between the core and the screen would be the same regardless of presence or lack of armor.

“The engineer's first problem in any design situation is to discover what the problem really is.” Unk.

But what about a cable with armour and no screen.

Case 1 a 3.3kV Cable which is screened and un armoured

Case 2 A 3.3kV Cable which is unscreened but armoured.

Is there a diffenece between the insulation from the armour to the screen and the insulatin between the armour and the screen?

Ask the mfr. I would tend to agree with Alan though.

Armor and screen (shield) are intended for two entirely different functions.

There are cables that are screened and armored as well.
