I am preparing for these exams but I can't find any example test to figure out the format of the exam. Does anyone know if there are example test references available?

Thanks,

Well, they're computerized, multiple choice questions -- for as much as that helps.

Thanks Lomarandil. I just want to gauge the type of questions to expect, especially for the survey part because I don't survey for a living.

Sorry, without looking back at the NDA, I'm reluctant to offer too many specifics regarding the types of questions I faced. There were a number of computational questions, a number of legal and statutory questions, and a handful of "what kind of professional do you need to hire to perform X" questions.

I took and passed both of these exams three or four years ago and purchased the following "sample exams" as part of my study effort. Neither of these publications are based on actual past problems but when coupled with a rigorous review of surveying and seismic principles, they should give you some confidence headed into the exam.

"Civil Surveying Sample Exams for the California Special Civil Engineer Examination", second edition, by Peter R. Boniface, Ph.D., PLS
"Seismic Principles Practice Exams for the California Special Civil Engineer Examination", third edition, by Majid Baradar, P.E.

Good luck!

Hokie. Thanks. Just ordered both of these. Both look useful references.
